About the Energy Partnership
The UAE and Germany forged their Energy Partnership in January 2017 between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI). Recognizing the importance of integrating climate and energy cooperation, the partnership was expanded to an Energy and Climate Partnership in October 2022. The purpose of the Energy and Climate Partnership is facilitating exchange between high-ranking politicians and experts from the private and public sector. Climate change and the energy transition are in focus of bilateral cooperation. Renewable energy has been the priority topic since the establishment of the bilateral partnership complemented by hydrogen since 2020. Additional focus topics of the Energy and Climate Partnership are electricity market design, system integration of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Guidehouse and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) are commissioned to implement the Energy and Climate Partnership between the governments of both countries.
