UAE and Germany discuss topics of mutual interest for the 10th year of their Energy Partnership
On the sidelines of the IRENA General Assembly and the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati-German Energy Partnership kicked of its 10th year with the 10th High-Level Steering Group Meeting. In addition, bilateral meetings were held with UAE government representatives as well as German and Emirati companies took place.
At the High-Level Steering Group Meeting in Abu Dhabi, H.E. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and H.E. Stephanie von Ahlefeldt, Director-General at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, discussed the following topics of mutual interest:
- Cross-border energy infrastructure
- Energy efficiency
- Hydrogen & sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)
- Power system flexibility
- Energy and Artificial Intelligence
- Engagement with young energy professionals & startups
H.E. Sharif Al Olama said: “Over nearly a decade, this partnership has evolved into a mature and trusted platform — one that goes beyond dialogue to deliver tangible outcomes. Our cooperation has consistently combined strategic alignment with practical implementation, and the work undertaken in 2025 reflects this shared commitment and momentum.”
Al Olama reiterated the UAE’s strong commitment to this partnership and to a meaningful collaboration with Germany.
Stephanie von Ahlefeldt said, “The Emirati-German Energy Partnership is built on trust and efficiently delivers results. Today's meeting demonstrated the remarkable success of our bilateral energy cooperation and promises a bright future.”
The Emirati-German Energy Partnership is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, supported by Guidehouse and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK).
The adoption of the work plan and the bilateral meetings with key stakeholders from the public and private sector reaffirm the trusted Partnership between Germany and the UAE.
